Do I need to fast before my blood draw?
Whether you need to fast depends on the type of test ordered by your provider.
Fasting tests (like glucose or lipid panels) usually require no food or drink except water for 8–12 hours before your draw.
Non-fasting tests do not require any special preparation.
Always follow your provider’s instructions. If you are unsure, contact your doctor before your appointment.
✅ Tip: Drinking water before your appointment helps make your veins easier to access. Usually it is best to be sufficiently hydrating at least 24 hours before your appointment.
